What is Your Well Being (YWB)

YWB helps employers support their employees who may be suffering from stress, anxiety or mild depression. The programmme provides confidential support and guidance provided by our Well Being Advisor, and 8 sessions of the leading Computerised Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CCBT). Independent research has shown that CCBT works for many people with depression and anxiety by teaching practical, lifelong skills to help them feel better and stay better.

It is a way of helping people to learn to cope with anxiety and depression and has been recommended for use in the NHS by the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE).

Information for employees

In December 2004 NICE published guidance on the treatment of people with depression. This guidance indicated that CBT was the most evidence based approach to the treatment of Depression and that CCBT was a beneficial a way of providing access to psychological therapies.

 

Our CCBT is the only program recommended by NICE for mild and moderate depression. We provide eight sessions which each last about 50 minutes. Beating the Blues is based on CBT the most proven treatment for depression. As you go through the program you will learn lots of things which will help you. But CBT is not just about receiving information – it's very important that you try to put into practice what you learn in every session.

 

So after each session there are things for you to do and think about as you go about your life. These are not difficult and the more of this ’homework’ you do the better you will feel.

CBT is not an instant cure but it is much more long lasting than drugs and other alternative treatments – precisely because it teaches you workable skills for life.

 

CCBT works by helping you to understand depression and anxiety and then provides you with ways to better manage your condition. The program is made up of eight sessions, each session takes about 50 minutes to complete, this allows you to access the programme at your convenience all you need is internet access. It is completely confidential and can be completed at times to suit you.

 

Information for employers

YWB provides confidential support for your employees, using internet technology we can offer fast and convenient support keeping employees in work. YWB offers a cost effective alternative to face to face counseling supported by our Well Being Advisor and CCBT.

·         Seven out of ten people who have used Beating the Blues have been able to overcome their depression and many would recommend it to one of their friends.

·         If you have depression or anxiety problems it can work for you too.

·         CBT will help you feel better if there is something in your life, now, which is causing you to feel down or anxious giving you skills that you can use if something stressful should happen in the future.
